This is the Website and App Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) of Cookpad International Ltd., which has its registered office at C/O Shelley Stock Hutter LLP, 1st Floor, 7-10 Chandos Street, London,United Kingdom W1G 9DQ (“shahiya”). It covers information Cookpad collects from users and visitors of our official website (“Site”) .

When we use the terms "we", "us" or "our" we refer to Cookpad and "Our Group" means entities controlling, controlled by or under common control with Cookpad.
By accessing our Site or App, you are agreeing to the collection, use, disclosure and other handling of your information as described below.

What does this Privacy Policy cover?

We process certain information about you when you use our service provided by our Site or App (“shahiya Service”). Some of that information may enable you to be identifiable (“Personal Information”).
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, store and use your Personal Information when you visit or use our Site and App. It also describes the types of Personal Information we collect, how we use this Personal Information to ensure we provide relevant and timely services to you, and to improve your experience of shahiya Service.

What Personal Information do we collect from you?

1. Information you submit to us

The type of Personal Information we may collect from you depends on the activity you choose to undertake on our Site .

If you visit our Site or use our App without registration:

You do not need to submit or register information if you only view the recipes without registering with shahiya Service. We may still collect certain technical information about you (see below) which we might be able to link to you if you then choose to register with us.


If you sign in via Facebook or Google:

If you sign into our Site or App via Facebook, we will collect your e-mail address and user name, and you will have the option to allow us to collect the names of your Facebook friends. If you sign into our Site or App via Google, we will collect your e-mail address, username and your Google contacts (your follow list). Use of your information by Facebook or Google will be in accordance with their respective privacy policies:

If you complete your profile:

If you decide to complete your profile, we will collect the Personal Information which you choose to provide, such as your photo, username, location you live in and/or biography.

If you want us to sync the photos on your device for food-related photos:

With your permission, the Cookpad Service may access and collect images stored in your device’s photo storage. By uploading the thumbnail images to the shahiya Service, you agree that the shahiya Service may use image recognition functionality to try to identify photos that contain food (“Food Photos”). Uploaded thumbnails may contain information about you, such as your face; however, the image recognition functionality does not perform facial recognition or attempt to identify any individuals in images. After thumbnails are classified, the original images of those identified as Food Photos are uploaded and stored in our server. We automatically delete any thumbnails from our server that the image recognition functionality does not identify as a Food Photo or the original images that you manually removed.



If you post recipes or comments:

If you participate in any interactive features of Cookpad Service, such as posting recipes or comments, we will process information that you add to your profile, and any comments, posts or other submissions that you make on the profiles and recipes of other users. If you include any Personal Information in any of your submissions, this will also be collected by us.


If you contact us:

We will collect your name, phone number, e-mail address, and any other Personal Information you provide to us in the course of communicating with us.
*Please note that if, when requested, you omit to provide us data marked as compulsory, this could make it impossible for us to provide you the Cookpad Service or to comply with your request under the agreed conditions.

2. Automatically collected information

Technical and Statistical Information:

We and our third-party partners, such as advertising networks, social media widgets, and analytics providers, also collect some technical and statistical information (the “Technical and Statistical Information”) from you, about your use of our Site or App, including:
  • The Internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer or device to the Internet;
  • Your login information, browser type and version, time zone setting, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform (as applicable to the device you are using);

We and our third-party partners, such as advertising networks, social media widgets, and analytics providers, use cookies and similar technologies to provide, support and improve Cookpad Service and each of the uses outlined and described in this section of our policy. Our partners also may collect information about your online activities over time, on other devices, and on other websites or apps. How do we use information collected from you?

We use the Personal Information we collect from you in the following ways:

1. To provide, develop, maintain, tailor and improve the Cookpad Service and any other services that we operate.

For example, we might use your Personal Information to:

  • Facilitate the access and amendment of registration information.
  • Customise the contents on the Site and App in order to provide a more suitable, enriching and improved user experience for you, including the online advertising displayed on the Cookpad Service.

Who do we share your Personal Information with?


We share information with other users of the shahiyaService. For example, if you send other Registered Users messages through the shahiya Service, we will share the information in the messages with them.
We may share your Personal Information with following trusted partners and agents only if they need such information to perform their specific obligations, and we require them to do so based on our instructions and in compliance with this Privacy Policy and any other appropriate confidentiality and security measures.
  • The trusted partners, suppliers, sub-contractors and agents who cooperate with us to provide you with Cookpad Service and advertising.
  • Advertisers and advertising networks that require the data to select and serve relevant adverts to you and others. We do not disclose information about identifiable individuals to our advertisers, but we may provide them with aggregate information about our users (for example, we may inform them that 500 men aged under 30 have clicked on their advertisement on any given day). We may also use such aggregate information to help advertisers reach the kind of audience they want to target. We may make use of the Personal Information we have collected from you to enable us to comply with our advertisers' wishes by displaying their advertisement to that target audience. What about the privacy of children?

We do not knowingly collect, maintain, or use personal information from children under 13 years of age, and no part of the Cookpad Service is directed to children under the age of 13. If we learn that we have collected any personal information from children under 13, we will promptly take steps to delete such information and terminate the child’s account.
